When phones were invented in and installed in Paris it was considered polite
to send people a post card inquiring if it is ok to make your phone ring
for a phone call at 1pm Wednesday. Some people (Carl Lagerfeld) feel that is
how it should be now. So he sends dozens of postcards out a day to the
effect and other effects. But that was before smart phones.
