Nathan,
As a forner serious cyclist/triathlete, I have to say doing a four hour 
session in 44 Celsius heat is extraordinary! Even just clicking a camera 
shutter in that heat is punishing.

Mind yourself: you don't want to end up like Tommy Simpson did on Mont 
Ventoux way back in 1967.
