Monk made many of what others called mistakes, but in his mind and vision, 
they weren’t mistakes at all, they were just right. The things he did 
continue to influence music to this day. And for those who think he lacked 
ability to play, he played as he did by preference. He was actually a fairly 
talented stride pianist early in his career.

Thelonious Sphere Monk was a genius, and one of the fathers of post war
jazz. In my book he is entitled to as many mistakes as he ever wanted!
