I have been using a Spyder device for calibrating the screen on my Mac. This Mac is about two years old. The calibration process has been repeated monthly. There was probably a small change out of the box, but since then, my monthly calibration process has indicated that there was no incremental change detectable. The software allows you, after recalibration, to compare a before and after view of a screenful of pictures. I cannot detect any change.

She said she was told by someone at the Apple store that a Mac monitor does not need to be calibrated. Is this true? She said they calibrate themselves with some software included in the OS. I cannot see how that can be without connecting some sort of colorimeter to the screen.
