You use whatever you wish to use. I use only the home based version? no cloud. If I stop paying ransom, i will always own the original files, the sidecar files and any edits I have done. But i will lose the ability to use any functionality such as editing and I am not sure about the database. Functionality. . I am told I can print with existing edits. I strongly recommend you look into ON1 as a replacement. It will accept and translate all (many???) of your Lr edits. No other editor makes this claim Yes, I pay my pound of LR flesh monthly. I also own the stock. That combo has made me money very well.
