The trick is if it will reliably put out-1 to -2 stops from ambient to just fill the shadows. If it will with you standard shooting then a flash becomes magic. Personally, I've never been able to reliably get the Leica system to do that for me like I could with the Japanese systems with Nikon being just magic in its ability to just bring up shadows like eye sockets. With all that, it's been 15 years since I've tried and things do change.
