We have all been there, at least I have, though with other brands that do not make such a dent in the wallet! - Those wannabe nouveauu riche who drape Leica on their bodies like jewelry - in the Montblanc/Rolex beginners mold, mind you, rather than in the Namiki/Lange mold of artistic value for money despite the cost! I am afraid they have left nuts and bolts photographers in the dust. When you can get a complete Nikon D850, or Sony A7R III system with quite a few exemplary lenses, I find it very difficult to make the case for a Leica SL, under any circumstances, given the bulk and weight. They are, however, going to navigate some rough weather, because with the excellent new Fuji and Hasselblad offerings in the MF (or rather, larger than FF) segment, at the extremely competitive price points, I expect Leica S sales to have dropped off already. I doubt if they have manufactured any batches of bodies for some time, but probably just very, very quietly and discreetly discounting (because discounting is the kiss of death for luxury items!) and selling all the present stock lying with them and reassessing the future at the same time. Look out for a new Leica S announcement soon!
