The Loire canal crosses the river on a bridge near where I lived and one could go to have lunch at an Auberge overlooking the bridge and the string of locks after it to the new level of the canal after Le Gu?tin. It is certainly novel to watch a boat cross the river on a bridge! cheers, Frank D. > On 20 Feb 2017, at 10:08, John McMaster <john at mcmaster.fr> wrote: > > A lot of the west coast rivers in NZ south island are like that (wide), I > never made it to see them when they were in full flow - I think it was > during spring with the snow melts. > > john > > -----Original Message----- > > I lived near the River Allier in Le Cher on and off for about 4 years in > total.
