I'm very fortunate to have come through the photographic world continuously from May 27, 1950 when my dearly departed wife Irene gave me my first camera for my 20th birthday. An ARGUS A2. Then worked as a news photographer for several news papers and wire services. Our dept. of National Defense for a short time. Not to forget enumerable magazines and other high end agencies as my career evolved always shooting film. Sometimes several hundred rolls during a month long documentary on east or west coast commercial fishing, off shore drilling rigs, And farming and ranching over the Great Western plains of Canada and a few times in the USA. Steel Mills and the auto industry start to finished vehicles loaded on trains. To the North Pole and all over the Canadian arctic East to West! On dog sleds, in helicopters and ski equipped aircraft of all kinds! Hollywood film productions and National Film Board of Canada film productions, wars 1967 Mid -east. Vietnam 1968. International sports events, Olympics and high end political and visiting USA and other National dignitaries to Canada . Obviously all those years using thousands of rolls of film. Fortunately I only in most cases developed the rolls and made equal numbers of contact sheets for print selection for news and other agencies. Generally in the case of the NFB, their darkroom crew souped all film and made contacts! Many of the major documentaries, several photo editors would make their selection of negs to be printed "hundreds" for 8X10's to 30"X40" exhibition prints. : ERGO, me taking a couple of weeks or more writing captions from the selected contact sheets. But it was never a chore, nor work regardless of time. QUITE SIMPLY BECAUSE? IF YOU LOVE SHOOTING THE ASSGNMENTS, I NEVER CONSIDERED IT WORK? YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY SECOND OF BURNING FILM! However I must say after several years shooting digital I'd much rather have it to use, than film any day. :-) cheers, Dr. ted O.C. -----Original Message----- From: LUG [mailto:lug-bounces+tedgrant=shaw.ca at leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Nathan Wajsman Sent: August-29-16 9:22 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] 300,000 IMAGES? Sure, Ted, fortunately, I have a day job an am a true amateur when it comes to photography, in the original sense of the word. And even with film, you managed to capture all those outstanding images, like the diver in Barcelona or the Pierre Trudeau image that I have and treasure, and?
