I agree that this shot should probably have a bit more done with it. Part of the problem is that I have a whole lot of shots, and some just need a while sitting in front of me before I can really 'see' them. With this one I knew when I shot it that it was worthwhile taking it, but it certainly wasn't 'finished' in camera. For one thing, it needs different cropping. Have at it; and certainly no hard feelings. In this regard I have quite a thick skin, and there are few shots where another view isn't helpful in shaping my take on it. I may or may not like your interpretation, but again, that's just a personal thing. If 98% of people like your interpretation better than mine; great for the 98%, but I might still prefer mine and I'll post that. However, most often I'll get new insight into a photo and incorporate that into a new interpretation.
