Subject: [Leica] Leitaxed R lenses on Nikon

I think for us to be Leica snobs does nothing for us, Leica or anybody.

Nikon glass ideal for perhaps bird or wildlife shooting costs real what we
think of as being Leica money:
AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR AF Lens cost $9,499.00
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8G ED VR AF Lens (Black) USA Price: $8,999.00
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4G ED VR II AF Lens (Black) USA Price: $8,389.00
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II Lens USA Price: $6,749.00

To imply that this is stuff shoddy in some way its pretty nutty.

And I'm sure the Canon stuff is a bit bette or a bit worse in a example by
exaple basis.

Oh! I see here:
Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM Autofocus Lens Price: $13,999.00!!
That's not chump change!

The intense competition between Canon and Nikon for decades has made for
some pretty nice optics. And cameras. And other companies also competing in
the Japanese photo industry are also often right up there. Olympus, Pentax
and third party Sigma:

Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF Autofocus Lens for Canon SLR - Green
$25,999.00!!

That's Leica money!!!
Can a company compete with Leica if they're putting their price point as
high? I think they can!
