Subject: [Leica] M8 craps out

The M is an unknown. Once it is out here amongst the commoner a conclusion 
can be made. The ME and the M9 differ in pretty much one area.  The ME has 
no VF selection lever. Same sensor. 
If it were me i would ask Leica to fix it under any warranty available. 
Barring any good news there, i would sell it off for parts.  A used M8 sells 
for just under $2000 with no qarranty. A ME is 5400 and i remember the M9 is 
also 5400. In Europe your warranty length is different than USA but 
certainly it is worth something. If it were me, and I were not taking a big 
trip, i. Would wait for the ME 's proven electronics. The M is too much of a 
crap shoot. 
John   The MM is a special purpose camera (B+W only  no color) that surely 
seems terrific, but if you are going to own one DigiLeica i think it should 
be a general purpose camera. M8,9,E fit that bill. The MM is not.
