When I visited the factory they told me that they used new equipment that had the tighter tolerances that were required to properly focus these on digital Ms. I asked how the gear worked and they said very briefly that it used lasers and micromotors, but wouldn't explain any more. My lenses were even more 'out' than John's - the Noctilux focused about 50 cm short at 5 m. The current Australian service entre for Leica has the same equipment as Solms, apparently, and can adjust and put new mounts on M lenses. I still haven't had my lenses 6-bit coded and am going to get that done when I get them adjusted to focus the Monochrom properly. That can be done here in Australia now, as Geof pointed out.
