Eh? This is an Adobe bug, nothing to do with your OS.
Installing a 64 bit OS and CS4 and LR2 64 bit does has implications though
(locations for profiles for one, compatibility for aftermarket plug-ins for
another).

Stan, the latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in that will work with CS2
is 3.7.
The DNG format is supported all the way back to CS since Adobe invented it
of course. Camera Raw 2.4 and later supports M8 and M9 DNGs (and other DNG
native cameras).
Naturally there were no specific profiles for the M9 before September last
year, but the files will open fine in versions prior to the introduction of
M9 specific profiles. It is the specific profile support that is one of the
benefits of the later versions (and my reason to suggest 5.4 and later).
