It and the weak pound were the main reason I bought the M8 in the UK. As for future use--I bought the M8 to take pictures, not to baby, so I will not be doing anything different, except that I will continue to use the little Panasonic LX3 as the cycling camera. I did notice one very peculiar thing when looking at M8 pictures last night. At first, I was annoyed that Leica had reset the numbering. But OK, I figured that was an inevitable by-product of the repair. But then I noticed that the exif data includes aperture information, even for uncoded lenses! And I am not talking about the maximum aperture; with both coded and uncoded lenses, the M8 now tries to estimate the actual aperture used. It is not always correct (some shots I took at f1.2 are variously identified as having been taken at f1.4, f1.7 and even f2) but it is mostly in the correct ballpark. The version of the firmware is the same as before, so it must be some special Solms black magic :-) Cheers, Nathan Nathan Wajsman Alicante, Spain http://www.frozenlight.eu http://www.greatpix.eu http://www.nathanfoto.com Books: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/search?search=wajsman&x=0&y=0 PICTURE OF THE WEEK: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws Blog: http://www.fotocycle.dk/blog On Jan 18, 2010, at 12:21 AM, Geoff Hopkinson wrote: > An excellent outcome for you Nathan!
