Sonny,

I just tried to get something out of the contre-jour shot with the 
ventilator fan in the centre and the yellow chair.

Looking at the histogram, the shot as published has almost nothing in 
the way of mid tones - a slight improvement can be made with Kodak's ROC 
plug-in, but everything else (in Lightroom too) just creates colour noise.

It does looks quite good when it's converted to BW.

I expect the jury would also reject HDR shots
