Grimes http://www.skgrimes.com/ makes a Summitar 'tapered 36mm' to 39mm adapter. Well worth it, especially if you also have any Summicrons, Summarons or the modern Summarits with a 39mm fitting. You can even get the SK Grimes adapter with a slot cut in it so the original hood fits. A Summitar has provided me with some amazing images on my M8.
