Subject: [Leica] PAW 50 : Phx - Foie Gras

Springerle are, I think,  the southern German (Baden-Wuerttemberg, 
Swabia) version of the Spekulatius biscuits we have at Christmas in 
northern Germany, although I think Springerle are made with aniseed. 
rather than the ginger and cinnamon "Spekulatius Gew?rz" we know up here.

The faces of these biscuits are traditionally printed with figures by 
rolling the dough over carved wooden moulds

They are a wonderful accompaniment to a glass of Gl?hwein. Very Christmassy!

I'll be baking something typically Yorkshire for Christmas: Yorkshire 
Tea Brack (a kind of cross between fruit cake) and bread) and Date & 
Walnut loaves - both are superb with a piece of Stilton, Shropshire Blue 
or Wensleydale cheese and a glass of vintage Port.

Hope it turns out as good as Botham's from Whitby:
