At least two people said spare batteries and cards and don't worry. After all its not a profession so missing a shot won't change anything, so why back up the body? I suggested a film back up. There are camera options out there that would use the M lenses and a small body will cost less than $1000. Of course if you get 500000 shots from your M8 it will have paid for itself even if you are not a pro. Its got a guarantee so shoot for a year and you will have saved quite a bit anyway. Others agreed with the Epson but warned that they are not made anymore, were unreliable anyway and so why put up $1300 in the first place. The question was answered. The "quip" about 2 M8 bodies is from practical experience not an attempt to belittle anyones life style etc Cheers Alastair --- photo.forrest@earthlink.net wrote: From: Philip Forrest <photo.forrest@earthlink.net> To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: Re: [Leica] RD-1 (AGAIN) or G1? now WTB: RD-1 Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2008 10:47:03 -0500 Not all M8 owners are rich, correct. But you ARE in a financial position which enables you to own one. Now, the initial question was about the R-D1 as a backup for an M8 but like many topics here, the question never got answered since the "M8 as a backup for an M8" quip came out.
