IANAL, but I followed with interest that the supreme court
in "DC vs Heller" (2008), affirmed that
the 2nd amendment is an INDIVIDUAL right (as the 1st amendment), 
specifically including self-defense within the home as within the scope
of the 2nd amendment.  it's an important ruling because 
as i understoood it, the supreme court had not given guidance as 
to the scope of the 2nd amendment for over 50 years.
