Luis,
I saw Thomas Hampson at the Last Night of the Proms a few years ago -
wonderful.
Thomas Quasthoff is a fellow Hannoverian and a lovely person too (not
that one mutually excludes the other :-) ).
When it comes to baritones, Hermann Prey took a lot of beating too.

I'm quite impressed with a CD of Brahms Deutsches Requiem I picked up
the other day - BTW, has anyone heard the recent recording by Simon
Rattle and Quasthoff? -
Prague Philharmonic Choir, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinopoli, Lucia
Popp and Wolfgang Brendel an excellent DG recording.
Funny, Deutsche Grammophon was founded in Hannover , Emil Berliner
worked just down the road from here. Come to think of it, Telefunken
tape (wire ) recorders and the PAL TV system and Pelikan Pens are from
Hannover too. Nothing much happens here these days though, the world
wasn't even told that the World's Fair (EXPO 2000) took place here - a
wonderful event but nobody came :-)
Greetings from Hannover
Douglas
