Subject: [Leica] planars and vinyl v. CD

I can't tolerate any Winterreise not sung by Fischer-Dieskau. And Carmina
Burana pretty much as to be by Slatkin. I'm trying to learn to like
Bruckner, and am searching for the best renderings of those symphonies. I
think Wand might be the place to go.

And, against the critics, I like Chailly's Mahler the very best.

This arrive sometimes with the very great myths, i.e. to leasen a
Winterreise should be Fischer-Dieskau, to listen Wotan Hans Hotter, and
still many thing the magicals hands of Furtwangler!

I'm of the camp that thinks Kleiber's best recording is the Brahm's 4th
symphony. After hearing it a few times, I just cannot hack the others.

I have most of the Kleiber recordings on black disk (but they are staying
here...). The Beethoven 7 is exceptional if you can find it. I am glad I
invested in a Keith Monks record cleaning machine way back, though in
today's USD it was probably the cost of an M8.
