Hoppy,

If you set the dial for the correct frame lines for the body your are using 
you will have the correct view in the external finder.  Seems pretty simple 
to me.  No it does not change automatically, you have to do this yourself.  
If you have a M7 or earlier, you set the finder for the 18mm frames.  If you 
have a M8 you set them for 24mm.  so on and so forth.
