Sigh  ;-) See the multiple other posts.
The preproduction version as shown in the DP review and commented on by the 
very helpful and knowledgeable Henning, has two index
marks. The one shown on the Leica site following the official announcement 
now has one mark. And you don't use it as marked on the
M8 according to the text of that same official Leica page.
Henning plans to add the second mark to his, if he buys one. I think it 
makes perfect sense as is. But then I have an M7 ;-)

If you set the dial for the correct frame lines for the body your are using 
you will have the correct view in the external finder.
Seems pretty simple to me.  No it does not change automatically, you have to 
do this yourself.  If you have a M7 or earlier, you set
the finder for the 18mm frames.  If you have a M8 you set them for 24mm.  so 
on and so forth.
