Normal standards mean that even with a plot at the margin you, the customer will never notice the difference. However, if your lab is running Kodak chemistry then Kodak bleach really, really likes to be aerated. So, if the lab doesn't turn on the machines over the weekend and if your film was run before the control strips were plotted it is possible that the bleach was not up to snuff with all else being good. Poor bleach means loss of contrast which is what you were complaining about. Let me know how it goes. As a last resort, send me the end of your roll or a strip of losers and I will put it on the densitometer pre and post bleach.
