Isn't the HP a lower magnification (for the better eye relief)? My F3 has the Beattie intenscreen and that does brighten it up quite a bit. Plus the very large 45 degree split image is great for me. I actually just kept this one from my Nikon sell off, with a view to those yummy new Zeiss ZF primes made for it. But all of this praise for the SL & SL2 has got me back in eBay once more. That's a bad thing.
