But I would suggest we think about how much of the radical nature in this change might be due to the ostrich-like response of much of the photo industry and its 'traditionalist' supporters, to the advent of digital. Remember Polaroid? Had Polaroid not ignored digital, it was ideally positioned to grab control of the P&S market - after all, what company invented, and was synonymous with, 'instant photography?' Leica could have produced a digital M before Epson, but it and its supporters - go read the archives ; - instead spent endless energy explaining why a digital M was a physical impossibility. Don't blame 'digital' for the death of photography, blame those companies and practitioners who insisted that digital was some weird and amusing passing fad (something you could regularly read on this list, certainly within the last 18 months.)
