You are right about the charcoal filter...it removes trace organic chemical, but I'm not worried about those...it is the inorganic stuff from the Mississippi that makes things hard to dissolve. Consider a water purifier -- I bought one at Sears: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?pid=03234480000 , no need to use the charcoal filter packs.
