Subject: [Leica] Elmar 2.8 50mm: Current or Previous Version?

I own this lens in the current M Mount version as well as an early LTM. Size
and weight is less for the LTM lens and I can't comment on an early M Mount
lens as to size and weight. No question, the current formula is a much
better lens.

The current M Mount formula lens is probably the best bargain lens sold by
Leica in M Mount today and the equal in performance to the 50mm Summicron.
Assuming you don't need the speed of the Summilux or Summicron the Elmar is
one great lens.

Regards,

Greg
