You give it a standard prefix (e.g. IMG) and tell it how many digits to use for filenames and the SW increments them within the destination folder. The Nikon scanners have ICE so no scratches and dust at the expense of slightly softer scan. A small amount of USM fixes that so it's worth it. I develop my own slides and that's how I get quick scans onto the web. For prints, 90% of the time I use the 1280. My love hate printer. It works well enough but it clogs like mad. There is less selection of artsy matt paper. Then again, if you like the glossy look, there are more glossy choices for dye sub than pigment printer like the 2200. As for printing, it depends on what you want to do :-) It took about 2 years to finally get where I want to be, and it's relatively simple once I know how it's done :-) The most important thing is to calibrate your monitor and printer. If you are pedantic, profile your scanner too, I am much happier now that my scans looks like the slides. Or you can do what Ted does - just put everything on auto!!
