[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Mark - It IS in effect a 600 - go try to find a 600 2.8, much less price one. It is competitively priced. But since when are you a 300 mm guy? And the other prices you quote are not only totally competitive, some amount to give-aways: $719 for a 22-44 f 2.8-3.5 zoom? The ONLY Nikon zoom wider than 24 that offers the 2,8 speed is the 17-35, for $1349 at B&H. As to the 50 macro - in dim light, its autofocus DOES go hunting; on the other hand it produces stunning results - so in dim light, I focus manually, which one often does with autofocus lenses in dim light. And by the way, at the current, very competitive price of $1495, the E-1 body is more than competitive- and it is far and away the most solid of the bodies - with excellent dust and water sealing - in the price range. But hey, you don't shoot Olympus, you're a Leica/Nikon guy, so how did this even start in the first place? -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Mark Rabiner Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 10:20 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Epson digital, or what? > fix. At B&H which is where I'd get it from: Olympus 300mm f/2.8 ED Lens for Olympus E-1 Digital Camera (Four Thirds System Compatible) $6,495.95 That's a 2.8. Not an f2! Priced for as if it's a 600 perhaps which in effect it is! Canon Imp Telephoto EF 300mm f/2.8L IS Image Stabilizer USM Autofocus Lens $3,799.95! I'll take two!!
