I have taken some really good exposures with it. It has been my practice to always use a lens shade when outdoors. Doing so, I haven't found flare a problem. Indoors, I have used it wide open with good results. I have found it sharp but with loss of contrast form f1.5 to f2.8. Still, I like the black and white images. I now favor my Noctilux in the available dark.
