There is a painting-like pictorial quality particularly in the vertical image. I also like how you managed not to end up with convergent lines when working up close with the WA. Velvia is not to everyone's taste, but I like it mucho. I spent 18 months in Portugal years ago (most of it on the Azores Islands. These street scenes are so typical of what I remember). The Che shot does not do much for me. The sign is shown out of context. I would have liked it better with the WA lens similar to what you did with the first two shots. cheers Jack McLain Tucson, AZ http://jackmclain-photography.dotcommunity.net -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+jmclainaz=comcast.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+jmclainaz=comcast.net@leica-users.org]On Behalf Of Nathan Wajsman Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2004 9:15 AM To: LUG Subject: [Leica] Nathan's PAW 16: Peeling paint alert! In the interest of full disclosure, I state that these pictures were actually taken a couple of weeks ago. But I only got around to scanning the film this weekend, so here it goes. On April 1st I had a meeting in Lisbon, and I rented a car and drove there from Seville. On the way I stopped for lunch in Faro, the main town of the Portuguese region of Algarve. I took a walk around the town, and snapped these shots, among others. The first two are typical street in Faro. The main is the main because SWMBO liked it best ;-) http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2004/2004_16.jpg http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2004/2004_16alt1.jpg The legacy of Che is alive and well in Faro: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2004/2004_16alt2.jpg The biggest event in Portugal this year is the Euro 2004 football (soccer) tournament, and one of the central squares in Faro has a big countdown billboard: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2004/2004_16alt3.jpg All pictures with Leica CL, on Fuji Velvia 100F, the first three with the 25mm Snapshot Skopar, the last one with the 40mm Summicron.
