Some thoughts:

1.  There is no reason why such a tiny image at the above URL should
be 357 KB.  Try to use JPEG compression to reduce the kb size to a
more typical 50-100 KB (not all of us are on university-sponsored
T3 links!)

2.  Don't supply the image full-sized at (in this case) 1241 x 1573.
Scale it down in pshop to whatever size you wish to finally display
it at (here 318 x 403).

3.  The people(?) in the shot are a little far away, no?  IMO,
candid slice-of-life photography requires recognisable faces
at 4m or less.  Yes this requires courage / gall / rudeness /
friendliness / whatever - which is why so few can do it, and
why so much 'street photography' is little more than shots
of peoples backs.

So, don't give up, but you've got a _long_ way to go...  :?)
