Looks like a nice head: probably a better match for the Gitzo 1228 than the
Arca. Wise choice! I know what you mean about the convenience of one system
for everything. I have a few Arca and Foba plates that I keep for the
cameras RRS do not make plates for and for the cameras I only rarely use
with the Arca (and monopods I have a clamp on). They just don't get used
with the Ms much  though. It gets expensive if  you get plates for
everything too!
