Subject: [Leica] Want To Buy: Non-Leica Wide Angle RF Lenses

Hello Leica Lug-ers!

I recently found out about this list and it is a very interesting resource.

I used to have an M4P and an M2 with a few Leica wide angle lenses (35mm Summicron and 28mm Elmarit). I would use this equipment to shoot photos to supplement some of the freelance articles I wrote.

Unfortunately, everything was stolen. When I went to check what it would cost to replace it I got a severe case of sticker shock. New Summicrons and Elmarits are going for $2k or so. New M6 bodies are around $2k as well. It would take me about three or four years of photo work to recover these capital costs. The equipment was insured but for only roughtly what I paid for it in the early 80s... The total settlement will hardly pay for half a new lens!

I also found out that there are some new modern non-Leica lenses out there... the Cosina Voigtlander line, the Ricoh GR series, the new Hexanons for the Konica Hexar RF and the Kobalux 28 and 21mm LTM lenses.

I am looking for a 35, a 28 and perhaps a 25. I would be interested in purchasing used the following:

25mm f4 Voightlander Skopar with finder
28mm f2.8 Kobalux with finder
35mm f2.5 Voightlander Skopar Classic or Pancake
35mm f1.7 Voightlander Ultron

I would be also interested in seeing a Ricoh 35, 28 or 21mm... but I am not sure if any made it to the USA. I would also consider a wider lens like the 21mm f2.8 Kobalux. I am not particular about the finish (black or chrome or whatever) or collector caliber cosmetics. However, the lens has to be mechanically tight, and optically sharp and contrasty.

I may just abandon the Leica body entirely in favor of the Bessa, which seems to be a nice screw mount body. If anyone has a user Bessa-L or R they may want to sell, please let me know.

Please send me a message here to my Altavista address and off-list with what you have and what your asking price would be.

PLEASE no referrals to items offered on E-Bay auctions and the like. Waste of my time. I have bid on several items there and have always lost the bidding war by a trivial amount like a dollar.

Thanks again.

Ted
