For those of you interested in this new lens, here are the pertinent 
specifications:

Number of elements: 9 (6 groups, 1 aspherical)
Filter size:    E 46
Smallest aperture:  16
Focussing range:    inf. to 0.7 m
Front lens dia: 49 mm
Length from bayonet flange: 52.6 mm (without hood)
Weight (without lens hood): 9.5 oz.

MAP $1995.00 with expected delivery date Feb. 2001.  Lens uses the same hood 
(12451) as the current 28/2.8, but the 12589 hood of the 35/1.4 ASPH may be 
substituted for a lower profile.
