Subject: [Leica] Flashbulbs

All this talk of flashbulbs has me wondering:  do I really need to cover
the bulb holder with something, to prevent the occasional explosion from
frying my quarry?  Or is that only necessary with bare bulbs that don't
have the plastic protective layer?  (I seem to remember using flash cubes
as a kid, without ever worrying about shrapnel.)
