At one time I owned a Nikon 200mm f2 lens. I used it exclusively for night time football in the pre TmaxP3200 days when all I had available was tri x. I would process the tri x in Acufine at the following times and indexes: - -3200 70deg F dilution 1 to 1 21 minutes - -1600 70deg F dilution 1 to 1 14 minutes - -1000 70deg F dilution 1 to 1 10 minutes I found that by diluting the Acufine, the highlights wouldn't blow out. Shadow detail was slightly better. If you ever try the 3200 times with this combo, keep your fix and wash times to an absolute minimum as the emulsion gets mighty soft with that much wet time. The 1000 combo gives a beautiful grain look to the images. The sharpness is good. Of course this is a use the developer once and toss. With the fast 200mm lens wide open, depth of field amounted to zip. Either you were in focus or you weren't. Burned a ton of film using that lens. It was an extraordinary sharp lens, which I sold to help my down payment on my house. However, as you may have noticed, I didn't sell my Leica stuff. My wife forbids that!! She knows that I want to aquire more stuff down the road.....and I will now that my company supplies us with Canon stuff. (20~35, 70~210, A2e and Eos1n). The Leica I use for my personal photography. I love making decisions about every aspect instead of the auto hyper Canons. Also, have any of you used the Leica Reloadable metal cassettes that you use with bulk film loaders? The Leica version of the Nikon AM-1? I really liked those for my F2 as I shoot a lot of bulk black and white film via bulk loading. Thanks Thanks for your input on lenses. I am leaning towards the 35mm f2 asph as I really do like compact lenses. http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Museum/2145 Gary Klein - ------=_NextPart_000_0008_01BE3A93.C072B8E0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D'"MSHTML 4.72.3110.7"' name=3DGENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><SPAN class=3D350330005-08011999><FONT color=3D#000000 face=3DArial = size=3D2>While=20 I have never owned a 50mm f1 (would really like one however), I have had = experience with really fast lenses and have used them in a professional=20 capacity.
