You are a brave man posting a photo of your significant other with a > 19mm lens ;-) Ha! In this case, I thought there was less funky wide-angle face distortion than one might usually expect, and I chanced it! BTW, an update for anyone here who might've been waiting with bated breath: Yes, the rectangular-ness of these dark borders is indeed courtesy of the 19mm lens's rectangular shade. And: the 180/2.8 Apo R does indeed do a pretty nice job of covering the big GFX sensor, but I found that when I pushed my luck and tried the combo of that 180 with the 2x APO-Extender-R on the GFX, there was significant vignetting (especially wide open). But really, that seems like an entirely reasonable result. -J > > Cheers, > Nathan > > Nathan Wajsman > photo at frozenlight.eu > > http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws > http://www.greatpix.eu > http://www.frozenlight.eu > > ????? ???????! ?????? ?????! > > > > > > > > On 19 Jun 2024, at 23:36, Jeff Moore <jbmmllug at jbm.org> wrote: > > > > Remember back when we used to file out our negative carriers and > > print with black borders, just to assert that "this is how I composed > > this in-camera, dammit!"? > > > > I was thinking I could pursue the modern version of that affectation > > by keeping the natural vignetting from certain 35mm-format lenses on a > > camera whose sensor size they were never meant to cover. > > > > Actual Leica content: these are taken with the 19mm Elmarit-R (II) on > > a Fuji GFX body. > > > > https://www.flickr.com/photos/jbm0/albums/72177720318068146/ > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Leica Users Group. > > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information
