I have a lens and a camera where I use a step up ring in order to use a lens 
hood - the Canon 50mm f1.4 in LTM mount, as well as the Fuji X100S. The 
advantage of attaching a step up ring for this purpose is that the world of 
inexpensive, generic lens hoods opens up.
