I have one (with vuescan) and once you get past the learning curve it is
definitely the way to go.

However, and I think someone mentioned this, be sure you have a way to
connect it via firewire.  Mine is currently in a box in the next room b/c I
haven't had time to use it for a while; I have been thinking about
upgrading my mid-2010 iMac (yes, I know) but am concerned about enabling a
connection to the latest models.
