I find both my (resting) M9 and my M240 give excellent b&w results. I shoot 
.dng but have both my rear screen and Lightroom set to give me black and 
white, so it saves second-thinking colour or b&w.

BTW, the file details on the gallery show the iso of the Wall Street image 
as 160, nowhere near what you are suggesting.
