I think the M(246) can have lossless compressed DNG unlike the original 
Monochrom, that is the difference. Then again, I do not shoot enough shots 
to fill a card up in a day ;-)

No, the M240 is the color version of the M246.  It is not the old
technology but the newest, but I already have it.  The difference of two
stops might be irrelevant since the size of the files from the M246 are
half the size of the files from the MM.  I was interested in the M246
because it takes the same battery as the M240 and I would only have to
carry one charger for traveling with both of them.  I'll have to experiment
some more with the M246 and the MM to see if it would be worth carrying two
different battery chargers and lots of different batteries to get the
larger, more unique (?) files from the MM.
