We do have a good bit of pock marks but most are covered up right because of 
vegetation, forests, etc? We just happen to be in that right place in the 
solar system to avoid most huge impacts. If it wasn't for that meteorite 
that slammed into the Cumberland Gap we as Americans may never have made it 
past Ohio.
