I found that negatives shot at speeds higher than 100 were unprintable, but one of the IR filters on my Ilford VC head just shattered into a million pieces for no reason, and I was unable to replace it, so I discontinued testing. Was fascinated with the possibilities for travel. Anything processed on late model minilabs is questionable for archival reasons. Late models were designed so they could be put anywhere in any Walgreens/CVS without running water. Rinse tanks were supposed to be refilled with fresh water on a regular schedule, but I suspect that those schedules were not adhered to. I often wondered if it would be possible to re rinse at home, but I suppose it would require additional trips through other chemicals. I think there was not replenishment on other chemicals too! It's amazing how much "good enough" took over photography recently. -----Original Message----- From: Ken Carney Sent: Wednesday, November 25, 2015 12:55 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] XP-2 I have read stories about rating from 100 (bright light) to 400 (low light), but it worked for me at 400 for about everything. Also, these films deteriorate pretty rapidly (if processed by a one-hour place), so best to scan them right away.
