 The discussion and photos of the Babbage Differential Engine of a couple of 
weeks ago prompted me to dredge the pictured 50+ year old artifacts from the 
bottom drawers of my desk. Many more are still interred there. All still 
work as well as they did when they were new. No batteries are required. Bear 
in mind that most of the bridges, all of the WW2 airplanes, and all Leica 
lenses prior to the Summicron were designed using slide rules and mechanical 
calculators. Will the Leica SL still work in half a century?
