Compared to frame n? 8, the other pictures look ... innocuous. It's all a question of choosing the right image, the one that makes your point: the comments that came later about the chosen frame focused on the violence it supposedly conveyed. Obviously, this is a very ordinary boy, whose picture was taken on a very ordinary day, in a nice park with peaceful surroundings. The frame chosen by Ms Arbus tells an imaginary story... She projects on that boy a story only she seems to have "seen". Well, here we go again about the "reality" of photography and the "truth" behind a picture ... (no tinkering with PS here, though!)JM Jean-Michel Mertz Strasbourg > Date: Sat, 8 Aug 2015 20:48:56 -0700 > From: richard at richardmanphoto.com > To: lug at leica-users.org > Subject: [Leica] Diane Arbus contact sheet > > Ms. Diane Arbus' work makes me uncomfortable and I think that's exactly her > point.
