Subject: [Leica] IMG: Airport at Sundown

On a very hot day, the airport can come alive in the cool of the late
afternoon. I walked around, talked to a few people, and snapped some
photos. Because of the warmth of the late sun, I did not try to achieve
a "proper" white balance. It is what it is.

The Bombardier BD100 presented a warm sundown image.

Because I neglected the King Air 300 on my last visit, I walked out and
got a shot.

I spied Larry Wilhite pulling the RV7A, which he built himself, out to
the compass rose to adjust the compass.

Then I spotted the modified Piper J-5 returning from an 8-hour day
towing a banner above Bonnaroo.

The J-5 is beefed up, has 46 gal of fuel, and the wing top surface is
fitted with vortex generators to enhance performance in slow flight. On
the front is a Lycoming O-360, delivering 180 hp, twice what it
originally had. An oil cooler is installed on the landing gear to
provide cooling, which the pilot said is so effective it has to be taped
up in the winter months.

Finally, a look at the power plant itself. It flies with no additional
cowling, and the aircraft is in the Experimental Category.

All with the X-E1 and the Fujinon 27/2.8 Pancake.

Comments and critiques welcomed.
