My friend for a retrospective show on the Tokyo underground rock scene between 1953 and 1980 had to digitize about 6 thousand 35mm film frames. He built a copy stand/light box and digitally shot with a full frame Cannon. He said it saved him about two years of work and was no better or worse than scanning.
